A 90 page, fully illustrated catalogue of the major touring exhibition curated by Townsend Wolfe for the Arkansas Arts Center. The text includes a preface by Townsend Wolfe and an essay by noted art historian and critic Peter Frank, in which Frank traces the development of Burkhardt’s works on paper. Burkhardt’s mastery of various drawing mediums including ink, charcoal, graphite, watercolor and pastel is evidenced in 55 full page color illustrations. Recognized for his unique brand of Abstract Expressionist painting, the catalogue traces the development of Burkhardt’s style and career-long commitment to drawing, which represented an equally important aspect of the artist’s body of work.
